The National Women in Blues Festival in Wilmington, North Carolina started as an idea in the Fall of 2006. WiB events up in Oregon gave reason to think it could work in the South. Women from all around the country came to play the 1st WiB Festival. That event went so well that it stirred up passion and fire in performers and audience alike , creating the need for more.
